You win, if you don’t quit!

Dear Friends,

“It’s by faith and patience that we inherit the promises” (Heb. 6:12)

That’s a word that God spoke to me (Mark) last week.

It’s always encouraging to hear the Holy Spirit. He knows what we need, and He knows how to speak into our hearts.

The word “inherit”, by the way, means to receive what has been assigned to us.

I love it when things happen fast. We pray and there’s faith for the NOW. We believe and it manifests immediately. But it doesn’t always happen that way. More often there’s a process, a journey that we have to walk along. And through the journey God is training us, developing our character, purifying our hearts, drawing us closer to Him…

It’s more like a marathon than a 100-metre sprint!

That word from the Holy Spirit, really did encourage us. It helped us to see where we are on the journey. We’re in this place of WAITING…. Waiting for the next step, waiting for Him, waiting expectantly.

Everything has slowed down over the past 18 months. We would have loved to have finished the building by now, but it doesn’t work like that. We do what we can, but God is still working behind the scenes. He is teaching us to be dependent upon Him, to walk in HIS time, not ours.

The set time

Abraham was 75 years old when God called him. God promised he would become a great nation and that all the nations of the earth would be blessed through Him. And then He had to wait 25 years (!!). God had a SET TIME for Isaac to be born. And that time was when Abraham was 100.

Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the SET TIME God had promised him. (Gen.21:2)

The word “SET TIME” in Hebrew means an appointed time. A date that God has set in His calendar. You can’t move it forward, no matter how hard you try!

I believe there’s a set time when God will move the Prayer House from the physical building phase to the operational phase. We honestly don’t know when that will be, but inside we’re waiting for it!

I think many of us go through this process of waiting. Many of us have promises that are still unfulfilled. God has called us, but nothing seems to be happening. If that’s you, don’t give up! Keep going! We win if we don’t quit!

It’s by faith and PATIENCE that we inherit the promises. (Heb. 6:12)

Knowing that the testing of your faith produces PATIENCE and let PATIENCE do its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2)

God uses circumstances to test us, mature us, make us more dependent upon Him. Something is happening in the wait. Something is growing in the spirit, even when there’s nothing visible on the outside.

We’ve experienced this before….

Here’s a part of our testimony:

God called us way back in 2008 to build a House of Prayer. We left our jobs and moved to Krakow. We had to wait 7 years before God opened the door. We tried everything we could to make it happen and nothing worked. Then, after 7 years and exactly 70 years after the end of the Holocaust… CLICK - the door opened, and we saw miracle after miracle...!

We had to wait for God’s time.

I (Mark) remember sharing this with a friend of ours in Krakow, “Isn’t it amazing that for 7 years nothing happened and then suddenly the door opened!”. Our friend looked at me. She was feeling agitated. Then 5 minutes later I said the same thing again, “Isn’t it amazing that for 7 years nothing happened and suddenly God opened the door!”.

This time she was REALLY agitated and said,

“I feel God is saying this to you. NEVER EVER say that nothing happened during those 7 years! In those 7 years the roots went down, and the spiritual foundation was laid. NEVER EVER say that nothing happened during those 7 years!!!”.

We may not understand what God is doing in the “wait”, or even understand why. But there is always a purpose, always a reason. There’s a treasure that God is preparing, which we can’t see at the time, but will become visible later.

God has called us to build a House of Prayer by Auschwitz-Birkenau and He has given us some wonderful promises. But these are in His time, not ours. In the meantime, like Abraham, we keep going, we keep trusting, and He who is faithful will do it!

Building Update

Over the past several months we’ve put in some beautiful wooden stairs from the Prayer Room to the balcony, as well as some granite stairs to the basement. We’ve also had our tiler here for the past 4 weeks, and he’s just finished the basement bathroom as well as 3 basement toilets.

The next big step will be the internal doors. We have 33 of them and we really want to get them installed this year. We’ve already placed the order, including the deposit, and are now waiting for them to be made. I think they will be here at the end of November, early December.

If I look at where we are with the building right now, I think it’s about 80% complete. That’s to get the building approved by the local authority, (without furniture and equipment).

We’re now into the finishing stages of the building, but proportionally this is by far the most expensive part. We also need to put money up-front to buy and order things. Amazingly, we’ve already tiled and fully equipped 7 toilets and 4 bathrooms!

Here is a quick list of the outstanding items:

INSIDE
• 33 internal doors – planned for November
• Kitchen
• Mobile wall, separating kitchen and lounge
• Basement plumbing (final stage)
• Glass balustrades and handrails (for 3 sets of stairs)
• Ventilation system
• Air conditioning system
• Built-in cupboards / storage / service areas in laundry and creative room
• 2 x internal stair lifts
• Control panels for electronic equipment, LAN, video relay, speakers, etc
• Light fittings for ground floor and basement

OUTSIDE
• Granite steps
• Platform lift for the less abled
• Outside terrace and balustrade
• Rainwater tank & connections

That’s all for now. May God bless you wherever you are on your journey with Him. We always appreciate when you write. We love to hear from you!

With love and blessings,
Mark & Cathy
