Code of Conduct
Honouring one another:
- Be kind and respectful to all visitors and staff.
- Please honour people’s privacy and stay within the public areas of the House of Life.
- Before taking photos, videos or audio recordings of other participants in the house, please ask their permission first. In the case of children, please ask the permission of their parents/guardians.
- Please do not upload photos, videos or audio recordings taken on the premises on to the internet or on social media without the written permission of the Directors and the permission of anyone who can be identified in the medium.
Protection against abuse:
- Do not abuse, use violence, humiliate or harass visitors or staff.
- Do not take a child to the toilet / bathroom alone, unless you are the parent, legal guardian or carer.
- Report any safeguarding concerns to the Safeguarding Officer – see the safeguarding page.
Practical house rules:
- Please, no outdoor shoes in the house except for disabled / medical reasons. So remember to bring your slippers, soft non-marking house shoes or grippy socks.
- Please, no drinks or food into the Prayer Room except for water bottles with tops.
- Please, no national flags in the Prayer Room.
- Please clean up after using the facilities (kitchen, creative area, etc.) and leave everything clean and tidy.
Ministering to one another:
- We do not allow a man to pray for a woman without another woman present and vice versa. This is to minimise the risk of misunderstandings.
- When making any physical contact, through the laying on hands, comforting or hugging, always ask the recipient for their permission first.
- Before giving a prophetic word or offering to pray for someone:
- first ask their permission, and
- ask if they would like someone else to be present.
- All Prophetic words and prayers should be uplifting and encouraging. We recommend you record your words, so you have a record of what was said. This may be different to what the recipient heard.
- If you see someone crying during worship, do not feel you need to go and comfort them. The Holy Spirit may be working deeply in their lives, and to touch or comfort them may hinder or stop what the Holy Spirit is doing. Allow them to do business directly with Jesus. He is the Master Healer, and the Holy Spirit the Great Comforter.
